A Day in the Life of Californians

Hi everyone,

What a weekend! It was packed and so full of memories, despite the incredibly gloomy, foggy weather. Although, that didn’t seem to stop us from heading to the beach. Before going to the beach, we stopped for an incredibly delicious brunch at my favorite local spot, Jeannine’s. It has to be some of the best food I have ever had. I snacked on a breakfast for champions: eggs, pancakes, and bacon! Then, off to the beach we went. It was quite the trek before arriving at our final destination: we first walked along side the train tracks, and then down this steep, wooden, splinter-ridden slide that finally lead us to the beautiful beach. Regardless of the fact that the sun was nowhere to be found and it was 60 degrees, we jumped in the ocean and ended up frolicking back and forth on the sand (as seen in the photos). Cheers to a great weekend filled with amazing friends and lovely food.

A Trip to the “Bu” (Malibu)

Hello all,

This past weekend I took a short trip to the lovely Malibu, California, where the beaches are warm and the people are tan! (Not very different from Santa Barbara). Malibu is one of my favorite places in the world because of the laid back, surfer-y feel, yet it is still Los Angeles. Malibu has the cutest cafés, coffee pit stops and the best places to eat right on the water. Malibu Farm is a must while in the beach town. Their food is incredible and they have amazing drinks. OH! I almost forgot about the one and only, Nobu! It is honestly some of the best sushi I have ever eaten, and I have consumed a lot of sushi. Our trip was short, but sweet– it is always nice to pay Malibu a visit.

Perfect Holiday Sugar Cookies

Happy Holidays everyone! These cookies are SO delicious and extremely easy to make. These simple sugar cookies are chewy and melt in your mouth which is amazing because sometimes sugar cookies can become too crunchy and a little bit flavorless. But, NOT THESE! Have fun making them and I hope you all have a great break!

  • 2 & 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees F. Then, in a medium bowl, stir together the flour, salt, and sugar. photo 3-8Now take your electric mixer and blend together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Crack the eggs in one at a time and then add the vanilla following right afterwards.photo 1-9Gradually add the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl until completely blended.photo 2-9Roll out the dough on a floured surface to keep from sticking.photo 4-8Use your holiday themed cookie cutters to create your desired shapes. I used my Christmas tree shape, stars, and hearts.photo 5-4After filling up all the space in the dough, clump it the scraps together and repeat this step until there is not enough dough to continue. Place the new shapes on an ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart from one another.photo 1-10Bake for 8-10 minutes in the preheated oven or until the edges are golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool for about 10 minutes before adding any decorations. I just sprinkled some powdered sugar on top which kind of looked like snow!photo 2-10Finally, enjoy and have a very merry Christmas!

Four Ways to Wear Your FAVORITE Cable Knit

One of my favorite things to wear during the winter season is my cable knit sweater. It’s cozy, simple, yet chic and can be dressed up or down how ever you’d like. I needed some new ways to wear mine, so I thought I would come up with some cute everyday outfits to inspire myself and you all. Enjoy!

What’s Hot

Fall! My favorite season of them all. I’m SO excited to watch the leaves change colors, for the weather to get colder, and most of all, for the fashion. There are so many amazing trends this fall: sporty, grunge-chic, fur, and whites! I love every bit of it. Here are some of my favorites for this season:

1. Fur Vest: Fur can be sporty-chic or elegant; dress it up or down how ever you’d like!

2. Bueller Shades: These have been so popular lately and I absolutely love them.

3. Leather Jacket: Because the sporty theme has been so in lately, I’ve been seeing leather everywhere! It’s an amazing look.

4. Leather Pants

5. White/Light Polish: Even though fall usually is darker colors, white nail polish has been big this fall as a pop of “color.”

6. Dark Lips

7. Timberlands: I am obsessed with this look!

Ruby Red

Good morning! I’m so bummed that the weather is gloomy. Summertime is supposed to be hot and sunny, but I guess not where I live! Even though it has been foggy, I’ve still been able to occupy myself by seeing movies, grabbing lunch with friends and little things like that! There are actually some great movies out right now! One that I am dying to see is called The Heat. It is supposed to be hilarious with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Hopefully I’ll find some time to see that this week! Alright enough of me blabbering about the weather and my plans and onto the outfit of the day! This outfit is a simple: cut off high waisted shorts, Givenchy rubber sandals, a nano Céline, and an essential POP of color! I hope you love it!
